Introducing the CyberDrone Challenge

The CyberDrone Challenge brings together students, government, industry, and the security community to learn about UAV (Drone) cybersecurity vulnerabilities and ways to help secure them.

The 2nd Annual CyberDrone Challenge ran at Camp Grayling, MI from September 14th to September 19th, 2025.

The class photo and the schedule are shown - for more photos of the event, please visit the Gallery section.

Instructors came from industry and government and included prominent figures specializing in cellular and RF communications, hardware reverse engineering, software reverse engineering, forensics, and operational use cases. Students spent three days learning the basics, then were able to apply what they learned on a set of target vehicles.

We are planning the 3rd annual CyberDrone Challenge to take place June 1-5, 2026. Student registration will open for this on December 1st, 2025 - stay tuned.

The CyberDrone Challenge is one of a “family of events” each focused on exciting and educating the next generation workforce about career options and the cybersecurity challenges of the field. Others in this family include the CyberAuto Challenge (www.CyberAuto-Challenge.org), CyberTruck Challenge (www.CyberTruckChallenge.org), and others.
